
Following the recent shooting incident involving former President Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a bipartisan task force has been established to investigate the security lapses that led to the assassination attempt. The shooting, carried out by gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks, resulted in Trump sustaining an ear injury and Crooks being killed by law enforcement.
Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have called for further investigations to hold individuals accountable and address the security failures that allowed the incident to occur. Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle resigned after facing scrutiny during her testimony before the House.
