Earlier today, top Democrat and Republican leaders from the House and Senate met with President Biden at the White House to discuss government funding and keeping the government operational as funding is set to expire on Friday. The meeting, held in the Oval Office, addressed various issues beyond funding, including aid to Israel, Ukraine, and border security.

House Speaker Mike Johnson emphasized the importance of prioritizing America's needs, particularly securing the southern border. He stated that House Republicans would address aid for Ukraine and Israel promptly once border security concerns were adequately addressed by the administration.

The White House highlighted that Republicans had previously negotiated a deal on aid with senators but later withdrew from the agreement. The administration urged Congress to pass a bill focusing on border enforcement with increased funding to address the ongoing challenges effectively.

Republicans argued that President Biden possessed the necessary authority to reverse executive orders that overturned policies from the previous administration, emphasizing the importance of law enforcement to curb disorder at the border.

President Biden is scheduled to visit the border near Brownsville, Texas, on Thursday, while former President Trump is also planning a visit to the border at Eagle Pass, Texas, on the same day.
