Bins on streets President Joe Biden is expected to travel through during his visit to Dublin have been sealed by Dublin City Council.
The gardai requested the local authority to seal the bins as a security measure as 500 gardai will be on duty in the capital for the visit. A number of roads will be closed and Phoenix Park will be shut for 24 hours from 5pm tonight.
DCC asked members of the public to hold onto their rubbish until the next available bin and said the bins will likely be closed until Friday. A spokesman said: "Dublin City Council would like to advise the public that following a request from An Garda Siochana due to the visit of US President Biden, it has covered and sealed bins in the city centre and along the President’s designated travel route.

"The bins are likely to remain sealed and covered until Friday. Members of the public are kindly asked to dispose of their waste at the next available bin outside these designated security areas, to prevent a proliferation of litter on our city's streets and pavements around these security locations at this important time.
"Dublin City Council would like to thank the public for its cooperation at this time." Biden will visit President Michael D Higgins in the Aras an Uachtarain and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in Farmleigh House, which is also in the Park, tomorrow.
He will also address the Dail and Seanad in Leinster House.
