Billy Gilmour given Manchester City and Liverpool transfer steer after leaving Chelsea for Brighton

Billy Gilmour given Manchester City and Liverpool transfer steer after leaving Chelsea for Brighton

PAT NEVIN can see Billy Gilmour landing a mega-money transfer if he continues to develop following his move to Brighton.

The Scotland international exited Chelsea this summer and penned a deal at the Amex to continue his Premier League career.

Nevin reckons the move will be a great one for Gilmour's development and he can see him moving on to bigger and better things quickly if he finds his form of old.

He explained: "Billy Gilmour is at a crucial point in his career, and the move to Brighton is brilliant.

"It's the right move. Chelsea won't regret selling him because that's not the way they think as a club - but they may want to buy him back again.

"Four or five years down the line, I won't be surprised if he's playing in the Manchester City, Liverpool or Chelsea midfield - he's that technically good."

Graham Potter believes “exciting” new arrival Billy Gilmour can flourish at Brighton but knows the team must be functioning well to get the best out of him.

The Seagulls boss told a press conference, quoted on the club’s Twitter account: “Billy’s an exciting signing for us, he’s an able footballer and a great character, he has a great personality.

“He’ll fit into the group and add competition in midfield. We’re really pleased to have him here.

“As a footballer, Billy’s very technically able. He benefits from structure and the team functioning well, which is our job.

“If we do that, I think he will have a really good time here.”

Nevin was speaking to Grosvenor Sport.
