Following Wednesday’s loss to Milwaukee, the Chicago Bulls locked up the No. 10 seed and final spot in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament.
With two games remaining, one against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday and the regular season finale vs. the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, Bulls coach Billy Donovan hinted at potentially resting his Big 3 on Friday.
Buy Bulls Tickets“My feeling would be that Zach, DeMar, Vooch, those guys who have logged a lot of minutes, would sit down with medical to determine the game against Dallas,” Donovan said after Wednesday’s game.
For a gamer like DeMar DeRozan, having to sit out when you’re capable of playing is a funny feeling, especially knowing how important keeping a rhythm is.
“It’s always a tricky thing because you want to find and keep a rhythm, DeRozan said. “With that, you don’t want to feel like you’re having too much rest and have rust, especially going into a one-game elimination.”
By the looks of the standings, the Bulls will visit the Toronto Raptors for the first game of the play-in and with a potential game off for the likes of Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and DeRozan, Donovan wants to make sure his top guys are fresh for the one-game elimination.
“They may not need to play their normal rotation. But they have to be out there unless medical thinks physically this would do this person a lot of good if they don’t play,” Donovan said.
