Bills sign two defensive tackles ahead of matchup vs Colts

Up next on the schedule for the Indianapolis Colts is matchup at home with the Buffalo Bills, who just added two defensive tackles to their front.

Following Tuesday’s trade deadline, the Cleveland Browns released Quinton Jefferson and the Dallas Cowboys released Jordan Phillips, both of whom were then signed by the Bills.

Phillips has appeared in two games defensively this season playing 34 snaps. His previous two seasons were spent with the Bills, where he totaled 38 pressures and five sacks, according to PFF.

Jefferson, meanwhile, has appeared in five games on defense with the Browns in 2024, totaling six pressures and a sack. The previous season, Jefferson played with the New York Jets, recording 29 pressures and six sacks.

With both just arriving to Buffalo, it remains to been seen how big the roles for each player will be this Sunday in Indianapolis, and even at full capacity, Jefferson and Phillips will be rotational players.

However, this was a move on the Bills’ part to beef up their defensive line rotation. Buffalo will enter this game ranked 24th in pressure rate and 26th in yards per rush allowed.

Coming off their worst performance on offense this season against Minnesota, if the Colts are going to bounce back on that side of the ball, it begins with getting Jonathan Taylor and the run game going. This will then have a positive trickle-down to the rest of the unit.
