Bills Hosting RB Leonard Fournette For Visit Ahead of Week 7, per Report

The Bills are reportedly eyeing the possible addition of a Super Bowl-winning, free-agent running back to their roster as the team begins its preparations for Week 7.

Buffalo will host veteran RB Leonard Fournette for a visit on Tuesday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Monday. Interestingly, Schultz noted Fournette, who won Super Bowl LV with the Buccaneers, has a “good chance” of signing with the Bills “if all goes well” despite fielding interest from several teams.

It’s unclear if the Bills would sign Fournette to the practice squad or 53-man roster, but his potential arrival would create an interesting wrinkle in Buffalo’s backfield.

Entering the 2023 season, second-year RB James Cook, and veterans Latavius Murray and Damien Harris have filled out the depth chart. The trio has helped the offense average 118.2 rush yards per game (13th in the NFL), but with Harris out after a scary neck injury in Week 6, the club could look to fill the void quickly.

While Cook fantasy managers may be quite disappointed by the news, it remains to be seen if the six-year vet is an ideal fit for Buffalo. In his 79 career games, Fournette, the fourth overall pick in 2017, has logged 4,478 rushing yards and 34 touchdowns, as well as 312 catches for 2,219 yards and seven additional scores.
