The Detroit Lions played the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving without both regular starting guards due to injury. The lack of cohesion and full talent on the offensive line showed. Facing the Buffalo Bills talented defensive front and former first-rounder Ed Oliver proved a very tall order for the replacement guards.
Oliver roughed up the Lions offensive line to the tune of six tackles, a safety on his one sack, two TFLs in the run game and both a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. It was Oliver’s first sack and first created takeaway of the season. For his impressive efforts, Oliver earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
