SpaceX chief executive Elon Musk faced criticism on Thursday after reports revealed that his $158 million (£118.23 million) September donation to a Republican super PAC financed support for Ken Paxton's US Senate bid in Texas.
Paxton, the state's attorney general, faces Democrat James Talarico as Republicans seek to defend their Senate majority. The funding prompted Melanie D'Arrigo, executive director of the Campaign for New York Health, to argue that 'billionaires aren't compatible with democracy'.
