Despite being around for years, artificial intelligence has experienced a bit of a surge recently. Thanks to ChatGPT, a technology that was always under the hood is now consumer-facing, and it has taken the world by storm, inspiring equal-parts excitement, terror and neutrality in investors, consumers and expert researchers.
Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, is the latest to jump on the AI train, touting both the power and risk of this technology.

"I think that this is unbelievable, it's going to be fabulous," Dalio told CNBC, adding, after being prompted, that it will be both "fabulous and dangerous. The technology is an unbelievable technology that will create enormous powers."
Addressing the commonly-discussed risks of AI, Dalio said that the only danger is in the people using it.
"The only issue is the people; how the technology is used is the risk," he said. "So we're in this environment where it could either produce a tremendous amount of productivity and raise our living standards and really make things a whole lot better, or it could be used in this war, in various ways to hurt each other."
(One of the biggest current harms created by AI revolves around misinformation).
Dalio thinks AI will be a tremendous revolutionary force.
"Many of the things you think in a status-quo basis will be revolutionized by this," he said. "It's a great power. It can be better than ourselves and become a partner and become some entity that can challenge us."
