Former reality TV star Bethenny Frankel is an example of using the spotlight to your advantage -- since exiting Bravo’s “Real Housewives” franchise, she’s seen success in business, keeping fans updated on her wine and margarita mix brands via her social media accounts.
Frankel recently came under fire online when she announced her engagement to Paul Bernon. In a now-deleted Instagram video, Frankel debuted her new engagement ring -- a massive 10-carat emerald-cut diamond estimated to be worth $1-3 million.

The backlash began to pour in as several commenters called the post "insensitive" against the backdrop of current inflation rates. Frankel rebuffed the criticism. A few days later, it seems she's ready to share the sweeter details of the engagement.
"I never told you my engagement story," Frankel posted on Instagram. "[In] 2021, during the pandemic, Paul and I went to Little Palm Island, a small private hotel on a Florida island in the Florida Keys."

"We are homebodies and rarely book a reservation…we like to be free and nimble and not held down to a time or plan," she explains. "On that night, Paul wanted to make sure we caught the sunset because the Keys are known for the stunning sunsets."
She goes on to describe a "fantasy date" like on "The Bachelor," including a private dinner on the beach.
"The intimate details of the story are private," Frankel reports, "but it was a beautiful proposal, in a beautiful setting, with a beautiful ring, to a beautiful man."
Not only did Frankel keep the ring a secret for more than two years, she and her fiancé kept the whole engagement a secret.
"It was nice to have our secret be our own for months. It just didn’t feel appropriate [for] us to make an announcement."
