MIAMI - The second edition of Billboard Latin Women in Music took place this weekend in Miami, drawing the crème de la crème of the women in the Latin music industry to celebrate and honor female artists' incredible contributions.
Despite the glamour and heartfelt speeches, one notable absence stirred conversations both on and off the pink carpet: the night's headliner, Karol G, was nowhere to be seen, and younger honorees Kali Uchis, Camila Cabello, and Ángela Aguilar, decided to skip the pink carpet and avoid the press.
It was a beautiful night, a bit odd due to the absences, but nevertheless filled with beautiful gowns, great performances, and moving speeches (except one).

The spotlight then shifted to other remarkable women in music who graced the event. Ángela Aguilar, one of the night's standout honorees, received her award solo for the first time. Her moment in the spotlight came amidst swirling rumors of a rift with her father, possibly linked to her alleged relationship with fellow artist Christian Nodal. Aguilar, ever the professional, shone brightly and made no mention of the speculations, focusing instead on her gratitude and pride in her achievements.
Other notable attendees included Camila Cabello and Kali Uchis, who were honored with the 'Impacto Global' and 'Estrella en Ascenso' awards, respectively. La India's receipt of the 'Pioneer' award was a heartfelt moment, as she expressed her surprise and joy, donning a stunning green gown with pink hair extensions.
Kany García, awarded the 'Spirit of Change', took the opportunity to speak about her foundation 'True Self', which supports LGBTQ+ individuals and vulnerable women. She emphasized the significance of receiving such an honor during Pride Month, highlighting her ongoing commitment to advocacy and support.
The event, held at the Telemundo Center and broadcast in the United States by Telemundo, was a testament to the power, resilience, and talent of Latin women in music. It was a night filled with memorable performances, heartfelt speeches, and a strong sense of community and empowerment.
