Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has delivered his first words on the club’s new manager Frank Lampard, explaining how the 43-year-old “expressed a clear vision on how he wants to take the club forward" in his interviews.
The former Derby County and Chelsea boss will take charge of his first game on Saturday when Everton host fellow Premier League side Brentford in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Lampard has signed a two-and-a-half year contract which takes him up to the summer of 2024 when the Blues are scheduled to leave Goodison Park for their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Mr Kenwright, 76, spoke of what attracted Everton chiefs to Lampard after what the club describe as a “robust recruitment process.”

“He expressed a clear vision on how he wants to take the club forward and, importantly, a tremendous passion and genuine enthusiasm to join us.
“I’m sure Evertonians will give him the special welcome that only they can and will be looking forward to giving him and his coaching staff a warm Goodison welcome next weekend.”
