Dundee United have made a move for US international keeper Bill Hamid.
United are trying to land the 32-year-old shot stopper. Hamid is expected to arrive in Scotland on Monday for talks and the move is subject to a work permit being issued. The American has eight caps and is a free agent after leaving DC United at the end of last season.
United have decided to move to strengthen Liam Fox’s goalkeeping options. Australian Mark Birighitti has been unconvincing in recent weeks and his blunder cost United the points against St Johnstone last week. Birighitti came off injured in that game but has returned to training and will be part of the squad for the weekend’s bottom of the table clash with Ross County. Fox has a decision to start Birighitti or youngster Jack Newman in Dingwall at the weekend. Hamid has previously had European experience via a spell with Danish side Midtjylland.
United's other goalkeeper Carljohan Eriksson is currently on loan at Danish side Nordsjaelland. Fox's men are currently at the bottom of the Premiership table.
