Bill Hader To Star In Animated 'The Cat In The Hat'

Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty among top-rated animated films 1940-2021

The beloved children's book character, The Cat in the Hat, is making a return to the big screen in a new animated feature film set to be released on March 6, 2026. This new adaptation will mark a departure from the live-action version released in 2003, with a star-studded voice cast led by Bill Hader as the titular Cat in the Hat.

Joining Hader in the cast are Bowen Yang, Quinta Brunson, Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, and Paula Pell. The film will be produced by Warner Bros. Pictures Animation in collaboration with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, marking the first animated feature from the revamped Warner Bros. Animation division.

The new animated version of The Cat in the Hat will be written and directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja. Carloni, known for his work on 'Kung Fu Panda 3,' brings a wealth of experience in the animation industry, having worked on numerous animated films. Rivinoja, a seasoned screenwriter, has credits on both live-action and animated projects, including 'South Park,' 'Trolls,' and 'The Addams Family.'

The Cat in the Hat, originally published by Dr. Seuss in 1957, has remained a beloved character for generations of readers. The film adaptation will be a collaboration between Warner Bros. Studios Animation and DNEG Animation, known for their work on acclaimed projects such as 'Nimona' and 'Ron's Gone Wrong.'

This new animated take on The Cat in the Hat promises to bring the iconic character back to its animated roots, offering a fresh perspective on the classic tale that has captivated audiences for decades.
