The Microsoft cofounder and billionaire philanthropist has spent the past two years talking up AI as a potential cure for diseases and a tool to reduce global inequality. He has met everyone from presidents to village health workers while funding AI pilots in education, agriculture and medicine, and has generally sounded like one of the technology's most upbeat evangelists.
