The New England Patriots might catch a break for Sunday’s contest against the Los Angeles Chargers, and Bill Belichick hilariously put things into perspective.
Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with a quad injury. He did return as a limited participant at Friday’s practice, but he was still listed as questionable to play in Sunday’s game.
Allen is the leading receiver for the Chargers with 97 receptions for 1,117 yards and seven touchdowns. He was able to burn the New England secondary with 11 receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown, when he last faced them in 2021.
Belichick is aware of the playmaking ability Allen possesses, which prompted him to crack a joke at a recent news conference.
“If they want to rest him this week, that would be all right with us,” said Belichick.

New England needs all the help they can get, as they look to pick up their third win of the season. Allen’s availability could have a sizable impact on Sunday’s game.
