Biker in hospital after Audi crash as road closed

A motorbike rider was taken to hospital with a leg injury after a crash with an Audi.

Merseyside Police were called to Sutton Heath Road in St Helens at around 7.20pm on Wednesday, April 26, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a motorbike and a grey Audi car had collided.

The road was closed between Elephant Lane and Elton Head Road while emergency services dealt with the incident. The North West Ambulance Service were called to the scene and took a man in his 20s to hospital with a leg injury.

Merseyside Police confirmed the driver of the Audi stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries. The road has since re-opened.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm we received a report of a road traffic collision in St Helens this evening (Wednesday 26 April). At around 7.20pm it was established that a motorbike had collided with a grey Audi car on Sutton Heath Road.

"Emergency services were in attendance and paramedics took a man in his 20s to hospital with a leg injury. The driver of the Audi stopped at the scene.

"Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC on Twitter, call 101, quoting reference 23000352853."
