KOLKATA: Encouraged by India’s best-ever show in the recently concluded Hangzhou Asian Games, the biggest-ever Indian contingent of 309 athletes to 2022 Para Asian Games is confident to better the 107-medal mark set by their able-bodied compatriots. India is sending 196 men and 113 women to the 4th Para Asian Games, set to be held in Hangzhou from October 22-28.
In the 2018 Para Asian Games, the country had sent 188 athletes and had secured 72 medals — two more than India’s 70 medal-tally in Jakarta Asian Games. This time the Para athletes will participate in 17 sports including five disciplines — canoe, rowing, blind football, lawn bowls and taekwondo — for the first time.
