PATNA: The state government is to write a missive to Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to know the status of its proposal sent earlier for the inclusion of Cyclopean Wall at Rajgir on the coveted world heritage list of Unesco. CM Nitish Kumar has pitched for it on multiple occasions in the past.
Archaeologists claimed that the 22-km-long Cyclopean Wall is believed to have been built in the pre-Mauryan era, before 3rd century BC, using massive undressed stones. It was built to protect the ancient Rajgriha city and major parts of it are ASI protected sites.
It was upon the wish of CM Nitish that a letter was sent by state art, culture and youth affairs department to Union culture ministry in January, 2018 requesting for initiating the process for submitting a formal proposal to Unesco for the inclusion of Cyclopean Wall on the list of world heritage sites.
