Four of America's largest retail chains have been criticised by federal health officials for their failure to promptly remove contaminated infant formula from sale.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued warning letters on Monday to Walmart, Target, Kroger, and Albertsons, stating that these companies continued to sell ByHeart infant formula for days or weeks after a nationwide recall was initiated on 11 November. The formula is linked to a dangerous botulism outbreak, which has reportedly sickened more than 50 babies across 19 states.
