Bluedot has added some more names to its 2022 line-up. Joining headliner Bjork and the Halle orchestra will be UK hip hop and grime artist, and MOBO nominee, Kojey Radical.
He’ll be joined by 6Music DJ Mary Anne Hobbs, and post-punk band Warmduscher. The festival will also be releasing its day tickets tomorrow (March 25) at 10am, for those preferring to dip in than dive in for the entire weekend.
Not only that but astronaut Tim Peake has now been confirmed among the ‘science headliners’, along with family favourite Brainiac Live.
Meanwhile, those with deeper pockets who are considering upgrading to the VIP option for the weekend are to be greeted with a host of impressive food operators in the festival’s VIP village. Revered steakhouse Hawksmoor will be on site, as will the Northern Quarter’s futurist Thai barbecue restaurant District, Stockport’s Michelin star hopeful Where The Light Gets In and former Baratxuri chef Rachel Stockley.
All profits from the food going on in the VIP village will be heading to Mary-Ellen McTague’s Eat Well MCR non-profit, which delivers 1000 meals per week to those in food poverty across the city, all cooked by participating restaurants.
Other new science-based stuff will include live science shows from guests including Chester Zoo, Ancient Antarctic Ice Cores with British Antarctic Survey and Meet and Learn sessions from scientists including Sarah Crowther and The Volcanologists.
Already announced for this year’s event, the first after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, are the likes of Groove Armada, Mogwai, Spiritialized, Metronomy, Working Mens Club, Yard Act, A Certain Ratio and A Guy Called Gerald.
The festival runs from July 21 to 24 at the Jodrell Bank Observatory, with the main stage in the shadow of the world famous Lovell radio telescope.
