Big name celebs reportedly in Ireland as Graham Norton throws wedding bash

Holidaymakers and locals in west Cork are keeping an eye out for celebrities today following a big bash thrown by Graham Norton to celebrate his recent wedding.

The Bandon native, who lives at his house in Ahakista in the summer months, took over the famous Bantry House on Saturday night for a big party with over 120 friends and family. The party then moved on to his waterside home in Ahakista where marquees and a catering tent were set up by the harbour.

The normally chatty TV personality has kept his private life pretty secret but it is known that he was legally married in recent weeks and the parties in West Cork - which included a blessing of the Union at Bantry House - have been a celebration, with locals saying singer Lulu was amongst those attending the bash.

One local living close to Bantry House told CorkBeo that rumours had been flying all weekend; "We knew Bantry House was closed for a private event, it was pretty common knowledge that it was a party for Graham and that it was to do with his marriage."

"We were hearing all sorts of names, Lady GaGa, Elton John was supposed to be singing., we've not seen any of them but there's been a big buzz around Bantry," she added.

"We could all hear the music from Bantry House on Saturday night - they certainly got the weather for it!"

The 59-year-old TV star had been seen out and about around Ahakista, Bandon and Bantry in recent days, including enjoying a drink in the famous Arundel's By the Pier gastropub close to his home in Ahakista.

Last summer saw the shooting of the TV drama Holding - based on the book by Norton - in a number of different locations around West Cork.

However, he is very visible in West Cork when he is staying at his home there, and his posts about his favourite pubs, cafes, restaurants and spots to his over 600,000 followers on Instagram and 1.4m on Twitter have brought major attention and business to the area.
