It's thought discussions are ongoing over a loan deal for the striker.
The agreement is expected to include a buy option which will hinge on the number of matches played by Danilo at Botafogo.
Danilo, 27, signed for Rangers for £6 million in 2023 but has struggled to nail down a starting spot in Glasgow.
He spent time on loan in the Eredivisie with NEC Nijmegen last season.
Danilo did not travel with the Rangers squad for their pre-season trip to Spain with the expectation he would leave the club.
He had interest from South America, the Netherlands and Cyprus.
