Per HoopsHype’s Alberto De Roa, recently signed Boston Celtics big man Bruno Caboclo’s deal with the Celtics is a fully unguaranteed contract for one season at $2.46 million. The signing is likely contingent on how Caboclo’s play in training camp impresses the front office alongside several other potential Boston big man candidates vying to fill the role of third center for the Celtics.
Caboclo has developed a 3-point shot abroad, shooting a sizzling 44.8% from beyond the arc in his last stop with Limoges CSP of the French LNB Pro-A league. He has struggled in larger roles at the NBA level in the past, but the former first-round draft pick played the role of third big well while on the Memphis Grizzlies in 2018-19, logging 8.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and a block per game over 23.5 minutes per game.
Something akin to those numbers and the flexibility to stay ready for larger roles on occasion when Al Horford or Robert Williams III takes a night off is what Boston is likely looking for from Caboclo, should he prove up to the challenge.
Don’t expect the Boston Celtics to use their remaining traded player exceptions (TPEs) https://t.co/e6G1bOp1kS
