Big Jet TV leaves people an 'emotional mess' with coverage of royal flypast

Can you remember Big Jet TV? Chances are that if you were on the internet trying to pass the time as Storm Eunice battered the country, you'll have stumbled across the YouTube channel.

The live aviation page raked in the hits, pulling in 200,000 viewers from all over the world as Jerry Dyer enthusiastically commentated as pilots tried to land at Heathrow.

The hilarious commentary was both passionate and informative, and today they've ditched the muddy horse field to the eastern end of the airport where they usually film for somewhere a bit fancier.

People said that their coverage of the fly past for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - filmed live from The Rembrandt in Knightsbridge, London - was so good that they should have filmed the official broadcast.

One fan Tweeted: "Can Big Jet TV do the commentary?"

"Personally would have got that bloke from Big Jet TV on commentary for this bit" added Twitter user Christopher Phillips.

And Nicola Notes wrote: "The Queen would love Big Jet TV."

The Platinum Jubilee, celebrating 70 years of the monarch's reign, kicked off yesterday with several events and celebrations around the country.

The flypast saw 70 aircraft including the RAF Red Arrows, as well as the Lancaster Bomber, Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane - which make up the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight - put on a spectacular airshow.

Big Jet TV's live stream began at 12pm with around 1,500 viewers, and it jumped up to 10,000 when the first wave of aircraft appeared at 12.57.

As they arrived, Jerry said: "This looks like quite a few waves, pumas and possibly at the back there are the chinooks. Here they come folks."

And soon the comments began rolling in, as one fan said: "Wow this is amazing, thank you Jerry & Gilly."

"This is making me so happy," wrote another, then someone else added: "This is amazing and makes me so proud to be British."

At the end of the display, a group of 15 Eurofighter Typhoons formed the number '70', before the red arrows arrived for their fly past.

One viewer wrote: "The 70! That takes serious coordination."

And another wrote: "I’m an emotional mess."

Then Jerry gave a sign-off, adding: "Oh man, that made me feel very proud - thank you to the RAF.

"Ah well, folks what can we say, what a fantastic opportunity to be here. We're very honoured, thank you to her Majesty the Queen for putting on that fantastic display with our might with the royal air force. We are very happy to have done that."
