Big Daniel Farke claim as Leeds United next manager facing difficult expectations

With pre-season training about to begin for Leeds United but no manager announced, the takeover not yet completed and the only transfer talk being around a host of expected departures, it's far from an ideal preparation for a Premier League promotion push. And yet, that is exactly what Leeds United are being tipped to do.

The Whites are understood to have their new manager in place, as they wait on the takeover to be confirmed before making any announcements. There's a growing belief that new man is former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke, who for the past few weeks has been heading the running with bookmakers to take over from Sam Allardyce.

With two promotions from the Championship to the Premier League already to his name, Farke's arrival would bring further expectation Leeds can launch a realistic promotion challenge this coming season. That's exactly what former England international and Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer thinks will happen.

Speaking to Football League World, Palmer laid out his belief that Farke's arrival, coupled with some shrewd signings, would be the perfect recipe for Leeds to get straight back to the top flight at the first attempt. Palmer said; "Daniel Farke I think would be an excellent appointment for Leeds United.

"If he is backed in the transfer market, along with the majority of the current squad that they have, I believe that Farke, who had two promotions to the Premier League with Norwich City, could achieve that feat again with Leeds and get them promoted back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

"If Leeds get the right head coach in, they would be my favourites to win automatic promotion back to the Premier League next season."

Leeds fans will no doubt wait and see what sort of squad the new manager is left with after the transfer window closes, with the business both in and out done in July and August key to any promotion hopes.
