Big Brother winner Luke Anderson has told how he thought his sky-high energy bill for his North Wales bakery was a typo.
The South African born reality star, 31, shot to fame on the 2012 TV show which saw him reveal he was transgender to the nation before being crowned the most popular housemate.
But since leaving the famous TV house, which he says made him 'have a thick skin' as he suffered vile messages from trolls, he has carved a life away from the spotlight for himself and wife Jamie-Lee.
The pair, who have two children together, set up their dream bakery in July last year.
But after receiving eye watering electricity bill for the Cravin' bakery, in Mold he has now taken took to Twitter to share his frustrations.
Luke said: "When we first chose our energy provider we shopped around for the most reasonable price. We thought that it must have been a typo or error."
Their bills have risen from around £400 per month to an whopping £1,600.
"To say we were shocked is an understatement. The general consensus with local small business owners is that the government doesn’t care about us family run shops," he said.
The price hike means they will have to earn roughly £50 every day just to cover this one cost per month.
Luke, who is dad to twins Arthur and Sophia, who they've nicknamed the Twiglets, said his business is also being hit like many as food prices are also soaring.
He added: "Not only are the energy prices surging, we are also contending with the cost of butter doubling, flour and egg prices are soaring too. We are determined to keep our prices fair for our customers."
But to curb costs, Luke has looked at baking at off-peak times to take advantage of lower rates and quipped that "candles might be an option at this rate".
Before taking part in Big Brother only Luke's close family knew about his transition.
He told The Sun at the time: "Thankfully I learnt to grow a thick skin, and realised that these trolls were just after a reaction."
