Big Brother's Lauren Harries 'learning to walk again' as she gives desperate health update

Big Brother star Lauren Harries is 'learning to walk' again as she gives fans her latest health update.

The 45-year-old TV star is recovering in hospital following emergency brain surgery in April after falling ill with a mystery illness.

Last week doctors put her in an induced coma after she suffered painful seizures which caused her whole body to shake uncontrollably.

Although Lauren and her family have not revealed exactly what her medical condition is, they have been giving fans health updates on social media.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Lauren told her followers she now will have to learn to walk again.

She wrote: “Not being able to walk is awful. I have to start all over again.

“The second is having my head shaved and the seizures. There are no words to express.

“And being in hospital for so long is hard, but thanks to all my stars for your love and support. I’m trying to walk and be me again.”

A few days ago, Lauren was pictured looking the best she had in a while as she used a zimmer frame to walk next to her hospital bed.

Suggesting her health is getting better, her family told fans: “Lauren hasn’t had a seizure for a few days which is a great relief.

“She still can’t walk without help. We are waiting for tests and her toes are in a lot of pain.”

The social media post continued: “She’s a fighter and has been through so much.

“Thank you to everyone who is staying positive and praying for her. She loves you all.”

Her family have previously said doctors are still carrying out tests as they don’t know what is causing Lauren’s medical condition.

Transgender Lauren first shot to fame as a child antiques expert called James on shows like the Antiques Roadshow and Wogan.

She had gender reassignment surgery in 2001 and remerged into the spotlight as Lauren, appearing on Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.

Although Lauren is in recovery now, her family said she could have died if she hadn’t had the life-saving brain surgery.

Her mum Katy said doctors had to shave Lauren’s hair off to perform the op, which she described as her “worst nightmare”.

But the TV star still managed to raise a smile as she was pictured bandaged up in a hospital bed.

Katy wrote on Lauren’s account: "Lauren has woken up after her brain surgery. They had to shave her hair. As you know this is Lauren's worst nightmare but she would have died if not.

"The amazing staff in the Heath Hospital have been wonderful. Thank you for your kind words, her recovery ahead. Update to follow.”

Fans were quick to comment on the posts sending their well wishes and prayers and wishing Lauren a speedy recovery.

One wrote: “Thinking of you Lauren, sending you endless love x.”

Another said: “Sending strength and love to you. I wish you a speedy recovery and you look beautiful even without hair so don’t you worry!”

“You’re in my prayers Lauren, you’re a fighter and a strong woman. Sending nothing but love. We cannot wait to see you back to your fabulous gorgeous self,” a third tweeted.
