ITV's Big Brother reboot has been delayed by a few months, despite originally being planned for release in March next year. The former Channel 4 and Channel 5 show's comeback was confirmed earlier this year.
An ITV spokesman told WalesOnline of the decision to move the show to the autumn: "Owing to the influx of big reality TV programming on air during the first half of 2022 (two series of Love Island and a very special series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! set in South Africa), we have taken the decision to move the transmission of Big Brother to a more prominent slot in the Autumn. This gives our viewers a whole calendar of big reality TV formats across the year."
Despite a delayed air date, the broadcaster has confirmed that Big Brother will still air on ITV2 and ITVX. Casting will also now continue into summer 2023.

To apply to be a contestant on the reboot, you have to be 18 or over and have the right to reside or lawfully reside in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, and be available for up to eight weeks. You can apply via the programme's official website.
The reboot was announced during an episode of Love Island in early August. The show's presenter has yet to be confirmed but the likes of Rylan Clark, Alison Hammond and Maura Higgins are reportedly among the favourites for the job.
A synopsis for the new series reads: "The action will all play out under the roof of the iconic Big Brother house, which will be given its own contemporary new look ready for this reimagining of the show.
"Clever tasks, nail-biting nominations and live evictions will be back, with the public once again playing a crucial role, voting throughout the series and ultimately determining the winner, who will walk away with a life changing cash prize."
Originally hosted by Davina McCall, Big Brother first premiered in the UK on 18 July, 2000 on Channel 4, and featured a 24-hour live feed that allowed fans to tune into the house at any given time. It ran on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010 before moving to Channel 5 from 2011 to 2018.
