US President Joe Biden said on Saturday that the United States will remain an active and engaged partner in the Middle East.

Washington “will not walk away and leave a vacuum to be filled by Russia, China or Iran,” Biden said in a speech during a summit with six Gulf states, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq in Jeddah.

"We will seek to build on this moment with active, principled, American leadership.”

"The United States is invested in building a positive future of the region, in partnership with all of you - and the United States is not going anywhere," Biden told the Arab leaders.

Biden also told the summit that the US is committed to ensure Iran never gets a nuclear weapon.

He announced $1 billion in US aid to alleviate hunger in the region,

Before the speech, Biden spent the morning meeting individually with the leaders of Iraq, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
