President Joe Biden has taken a proactive approach in addressing the ongoing conflict in Gaza by reaching out to key leaders in the region. In a recent development, Biden wrote letters to the leaders of Egypt and Qatar, urging them to press Hamas for a potential hostage deal with Israel. This move comes on the heels of Biden's call to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to intensify efforts towards achieving a cease-fire in the six-month-old war in Gaza.

A senior administration official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that Biden's national security adviser is scheduled to meet with family members of some of the approximately 100 hostages who are believed to still be held in Gaza. This meeting is set to take place on Monday, indicating the administration's commitment to addressing the hostage crisis.

Furthermore, in a bid to further engage with the situation, Biden has deployed CIA Director Bill Burns to Cairo for talks over the weekend. Burns' discussions in Cairo are expected to focus on the complexities of the hostage crisis and explore potential avenues for resolution.

The involvement of high-level officials and diplomatic efforts underscore the seriousness with which the Biden administration is approaching the conflict in Gaza. By engaging with regional leaders and deploying key personnel, the administration is signaling its commitment to finding a peaceful resolution to the crisis and ensuring the safety of those affected by the conflict.
