Tensions in the Middle East have escalated once again as Iranian-backed militias continue to launch attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria. Over 100 attacks have been reported since mid-October, leading to concerns of a wider conflict and the need for decisive action to curb Iran's destabilizing activities.
The attacks, backed by Tehran, have targeted U.S. forces and commercial shipping in the region. In November, Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen began attacking commercial vessels in the Red Sea, leading to major shipping companies rerouting their cargo. As a response, the United States has relocated carrier groups closer to Israel in an effort to defend against further aggression.
