The Biden administration has issued a response to TikTok's threat to block access to more than 170 million Americans on Sunday. A White House official stated that the administration believes its Friday morning statement was clear and that it will not penalize service providers like Google and Apple for hosting TikTok.

While not ruling out further action before the deadline, the administration has made it clear that the decision regarding TikTok is up to President-elect Donald Trump. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre emphasized that President Biden's stance on TikTok has been consistent, advocating for the app to remain available to Americans under American ownership or ownership that addresses national security concerns.
