Within 48 hours, the Bidar police cracked the case in which a five-member gang had robbed a container truck carrying a consignment of ceiling fans worth ₹24.86 lakh in Bemalkheda village of Chitguppa taluk in Bidar district and arrested four people.
The police also recovered the 694 units of ceiling fans which were looted by the gang of robbers on October 13. According to the complainant Umashankar Gowda , a manager of a private company stated that the consignment was dispatched from Hyderabad to Mumbai on October 12 night, but on October 15 he came to know that the GPRS track of the transportation container had been lost two days ago [on October 13]. As per GPRS records, the container was last traced 7 km away from the Telangana-Karnataka border on NH-65 on October 13 early morning.
The complainant reached the spot only to find that the container carrying fans worth ₹24,86,156 was looted.
Superintendent of Police Chennabasavanna S.L. said that three teams of 13 police officers spread a dragnet and arrested four members of the gang. During the interrogation, the accused confessed that they waylaid the container near BKSK Sugar factory at Shiwar and gave the injection to sedate the container driver. The container was taken unloaded at a poultry farm and again stationed near the BKSK factory.
The police have arrested four members of teh gang and recovered the entire consignment including 694 fan boxes worth ₹24.86 lakh, a container truck worth ₹25 lakh and the motorcycle used for the crime worth ₹90,000.
