An ambitious bid to turn an area with eyesore buildings in Irvine into a “vibrant” part of the town centre once again is on the cards.
Labour councillor Robert Foster brought forward a motion to the full council last Wednesday asking that "a report is tabled to the first meeting of council following the summer recess outlining the ownership position and options for bringing the old Forum building, old Ruby Tuesdays building and subsequent surrounding buildings that have fallen into disrepair back into a usable state".
Depute North Ayrshire Council leader, Shaun Macaulay, then put forward an amendment which read: “Council asks that a working group is arranged of local members and relevant officers to discuss and evaluate options outlining the ownership position and options for bringing the old Forum building, old Ruby Tuesdays building and subsequent surrounding buildings that have fallen into disrepair back into a usable state.”
