BHOPAL: A 17-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour for two years. The accused even married the girl at a temple. The incident came to light when she got pregnant and was admitted to JP hospital on Thursday. The hospital administration on finding her being a minor informed MP Nagar police.
Police said that the survivor, 17, left school after class 9. She stated in her complaint that when she was 15-year-old, the accused Ishant came to reside in her neighbourhood with his family. He befriended her and made physical relations with her. He even took her to a temple where he married her.
Police said that the girl alleged that when she got pregnant, she informed her family about it and also to Ishant’s mother. The girl was admitted to JP hospital on Thursday for delivery after which the hospital staff informed MP Nagar police. Acting on information, MP Nagar police reached the spot and registered a rape case against the accused Ishant under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act.
Investigation officer SI RK Mishra said that the girl delivered a baby boy on Friday. The accused Ishant was also a minor when he raped the girl but now, he is around 18 years old. Both the families were aware of the incident. Further probe is on.
