Bhopal: Man rapes minor for two years on marriage lure

BHOPAL: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her former neighbour on the pretext of marriage for around two years in Shamla Hills locality. A few days ago, the accused and his family refused to accept the survivor, who then reported the incident to Shyamla Hills police station on Thursday.

Police said that the survivor, a resident of Nishatpura, is a school dropout. She alleged that she came in contact with Fazal Khan, who resided close to her home in Shamla Hills. Police said that Fazal lured the survivor into friendship and promised to marry her.

In October 2020, he allegedly outraged her modesty at her home and had been raping her since then. A few days ago, the minor spoke about his promise of marriage, which he refused.

The girl informed then lodged a complaint at the police station. Acting on her complaint, Shyamla Hills police registered a rape case against the accused under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act and started investigations.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
