BHOPAL: A 48-year-old man, who was missing for 12 days, was found dead in a pond beside 80-Feet Road in Barkheda Pathani area of Govindpura on Monday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Shiv Charan Pal, a gas deliveryman who lived in Shanti Nagar in Barkheda, around 15km from where his body was found. Pal’s family members told police that he had left home on February 2 and never returned, investigation officer ASI Arvind Kaurav said. After checking with friends and relatives, his kin filed a missing person’s report with Govindpura police the same day. On Monday afternoon, some residents of Barkheda Pathani informed police that a body was floating in a pond. Police used divers to recover the decomposed body. There were no external injury marks, so police suspect he accidentally fell into the pond and drowned, said ASI Kaurav. Police are also investigating the possibility of suicide and are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain cause of death. Police have registered a case of unnatural death. TNN
