BGT viewers divided as judges give dogs standing ovation and snub forgotten winners

Britain's Got Talent viewers were left divided over a dog act in tonight's second live semi-final show.

Judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, Simon Cowell and David Walliams were so impressed by Amber and Nymeria that they gave a standing ovation after the performance ended - but it received mixed reviews from fans.

The judges and audience loved every second of their exciting act and had no choice but to stand and applaud.

But over on Twitter, many shared their thoughts - and some didn't understand how the dog act received such praise.

One person wrote: " #BGT standing ovation? What for??"

A second shared: "Standing ovation for a Dog out, Drop me Out!! #Bgt."

However, others were enthralled by the performance.

One commented: "Wow loved the dog act! Such clever dogs! If I could get mine just to come back when I call him I'd be happy! #BGT"

Some comments were made by Alesha about the performance being the best dog act since Ashleigh and Pudsey - but infuriated fans pointed out that Jules and Matisse had been snubbed.

One puzzled viewer wrote: "Best dog act since Ashleigh and Pudsey? What about Jules and Matisse… regardless of whether it was a stunt dog or not…"

Another quoted: "'Best dog act since Ashley and Pudsey' says Alesha. Is she aware that this poor sod won just a few years ago? #BGT "

However some people argued that Jules and Matisse weren't that great.

"Written out of the history books but to be fair Jules and Matisse weren't as good as Ashleigh and Pudsey. And neither are these," someone penned.

Elsewhere on the show tonight, the gorgeous Amanda Holden once again blew her fans away with her show stopping outfit.

The 53-year-old Heart Breakfast presenter wowed viewers with her glittering strapless gown on Monday night - and tonight she went above and beyond.

With all eyes on her as usual, Amanda walked out in a purple plunging dress which featured a daring thigh-split.

Not only that, but her jaw-dropping dress featured a jewelled bra and thigh-split.

She was hailed as 'ageless' by her followers as they couldn't believe their eyes.

"Holy hell!! You never seem to age. So beautiful," one person penned.

A second person wrote: "The is absolutely incredible. I had tears in my eyes as I saw the picture of you."

A third gushed: "Angel on the earth."
