BGT's Simon Cowell hands out Golden Buzzer - but he sets out conditions first

Britain's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell handed out his Golden Buzzer tonight - but he made a string of conditions first.

The ITV talent show aired the second episode of a bumper launch weekend on Sunday night, and this time it was down to Simon to unveil who he had picked for his Golden Buzzer.

Comedian Axel Blake took to the stage this evening, where he revealed he was doing the show for his son, and to prove that anyone could achieve anything they wanted, if they put their mind to it.

Axel's jokes impressed all the judges including Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams, but Simon was particularly fond with the comedian's joke about coronavirus and calling his new baby Pfizer.

As Axel walked onto the stage at the London Palladium, he revealed his day job was a property maintenance manager, as Simon joked with him about needing a new kitchen fitted at some point.

Axel promised he would fit the kitchen for him at a good rate, as long as he pressed his Golden Buzzer for him. Simon laughed but didn't rule it out, describing what he likes in his kitchen.

So when the act ended, the judges were tasked with giving their verdict on the performance.

"A comedy superstar is born tonight. Fantastic," David said, "So funny. You made it seem so effortless. You've got a wonderful and likeable personality - and everything you said was brilliantly funny and original."

Simon described the act as just what people needed after a tough few years, as he praised him for his Covid joke in particular, saying it was the "only funny Covid joke" he's heard.

"There's something I have to say to you though," Simon said, followed by a dramatic pause leaving fans questioning what his next move was, as he started to list the things he wanted in his kitchen.

He told Axel: "I like a granite worktop, and a waste disposal unit. I want 25 per cent off and you can have this."

The comedian looked incredibly shocked as the gold confetti fell around him and there was a sweet and poignant moment with his son in the audience, as they pointed excitedly at one another.

Simon came up onto stage and congratulated Axel for his success.
