BGT's Greatest Showman singer also appeared on The Voice as she shares 'fight' for fame

Britain's Got Talent contestant Loren Allred has opened up about previously participating on The Voice USA, detailing her “long journey” in the music industry on ITV ’s Lorraine.

The singer, who provided the vocals to the song Never Enough in Hugh Jackman's 2017 musical The Greatest Showman, has faced criticism for being more established than other acts auditioning on Britain’s Got Talent.

The 32-year-old introduced herself as the singer behind Rebecca Ferguson's performances in the film ahead of her audition in front of the ITV judging panel.

Lorraine host Christine Lampard, who was standing in for regular host Lorraine Kelly, also asked Loren about her appearance on The Voice.

Loren was a contestant on the third season of The Voice in 2012 and selected the Maroon 5 hitmaker as her coach, but she was eliminated after the first week of the live round of the show, tying for thirteenth place.

Christine said: “You have had big names championing you from the very beginning - Michael Buble, of course, Simon Cowell is clearly now in love as well.

“You actually did take part in The Voice at one point - Adam Levine was backing you there too, so you’ve done so much, but it feels like now it’s about timing.”

Speaking remotely from San Diego, the Pennsylvania native said: “It’s been a really long journey in the music industry.

“I was in The Voice and I’ve kind of been fighting for my chance for a long time and I’m so lucky that the song was so successful.”

She added: “Michael Buble was just rooting for me and giving me a platform to be more known. I’m so grateful to him for doing that.

“I do really feel Britain's Got Talent is the perfect place to show more people my story and hopefully show them that I’m a songwriter and keep singing.”

But when Loren secured the first Golden Buzzer of the new series of the show, viewers felt that Britain's Got Talent should be dedicated to new discoveries.

In the wake of the criticisms, Britain's Got Talent has voiced its support for Loren, telling Metro: “Whilst most people will have heard the infamous Greatest Showman track, Loren is not a household name, and she deserves her spot on the BGT stage.”

The spokesperson added: “We hope that such articles will not count against somebody who is well-deserving of this opportunity. It’s fantastic that Loren is now able to step out and stand in her own right to be the face, and not just the voice, of one of the most well-known tracks of all time.”

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
