BGT's Amanda Holden accuses escapologist of 'deceit' after 'disappointing' stunt

Amanda Holden accused one Britain's Got Talent semi finalist of 'deceit' during Tuesday evening's show.

The second round of the live semi-finals saw escapologist Andrew Basso perform for the judges once again.

Andrew terrified and impressed the judging panel in equal measure during his first audition, which aired on ITV back in April.

The Italian took on Harry Houdini's most dangerous and difficult stunt - The Water Torture Cell - when he first came face-to-face with Simon Cowell and the rest of the judging panel.

Andrew was underwater for more than three minutes as he took part in the stunt, which had the judges up on their feet.

Simon Cowell was shocked when Amanda Holden used the word 'deceit' in her feedback to Andrew Basso (ITV)

However, Amanda clearly wasn't impressed with Andrew's second performance - and was brutally honest as she gave him her feedback.

Andrew attempted a new stunt and was seen being chained by the arms and the neck and placed in a shark tank full of water.

He told viewers watching at home that he would attempt to escape the water but would have to figure his way out in the dark.

"Well, there is a lot of work and this is dangerous but I have to say you left me disappointed this evening," Amanda said as the audience began to boo her.

"I feel that your first audition, we were on the edge of our seats, I felt that it was much more intense.

"And I think this evening because of the darkness and because of everything else, we were just sort of left wondering if there was less danger and more deceit going on in that tank," she added as Simon Cowell shouted: "Deceit? Like what?"

Andrew was chained up inside a tank full of water but the audience couldn't see how he had escaped (ITV)

However, many BGT fans tuning in at home agreed with Amanda and took to Twitter to comment.

One person said: "Agree with Amanda, once we couldn't see, kinda made it pointless sat there twiddling my thumbs watching a clock #bgt."

Another tweeted: "I know what Amanda means, may well be v dangerous but was boring to watch #bgt."

A third viewer wrote: "I appreciate what escapologists do but it's always the same. Over the top suspense! pretend they have ran out of time. And we couldn't even see what he was doing ffs #bgt."

Andrew sadly didn't make it through to the Sunday's final as hosts Ant and Dec revealed that he didn't secure enough votes on Tuesday evening.

The Britain's Got Talent semi-finals continue this week at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
