Beyoncé Grants Permission For Her Song To Support Kamala Harris

Beyoncé recently granted permission for one of her songs to be used during Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign, signaling her support for the presumptive Democratic nominee. Harris' team sought approval to use Beyoncé's song 'Freedom' featuring Kendrick Lamar from her 2016 album 'Lemonade' for an event at her campaign headquarters. Beyoncé, known for rarely allowing her music to be used outside of her own projects, quickly gave the green light for the song to be played during the event in Wilmington, Del.

Although Beyoncé has not officially endorsed Harris, she has a history of supporting Democratic candidates. She was a vocal supporter of former President Barack Obama, performing at his inauguration and participating in rallies for Hillary Clinton. In 2020, Beyoncé encouraged her fans to vote for the Biden-Harris ticket by wearing a face mask in support of the candidates.

Following President Biden's announcement that he will not seek re-election, Harris secured enough Democratic delegates to become the party's nominee. Notably, she has received endorsements from prominent figures such as Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi. Other celebrities, including Barbra Streisand, Robert De Niro, and Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, have also shown their support for Harris' White House bid.
