Betting has been suspended on Kalvin Phillips’ proposed move from Leeds United to Manchester City this summer. Phillips has long been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium and speculation has gone into overdrive since the end of the Premier League season, with numerous reports claiming the midfielder is at the top of the champions’ shopping list.
Leeds will be reluctant to see their England international leave Elland Road this summer and it seems this one could be set to drag on for a while longer yet with Leeds Live reporting yesterday that details of a formal bid were wide of the mark. However, some bookmakers have made their mind up on Phillips’ future.
While City, who are keen to replace Fernandinho, are the favourites to sign the 26-year-old with Sky Bet, Betfair have gone as far as to suspend betting on where he will be playing next season. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean Phillips will make the move across the Pennines, it simply suggests Betfair have seen enough to stop taking bets on his future at this point in time.

Fortunately, last month’s Premier League survival means Leeds are in a position to call the shots on any Phillips deal, with no reason to sell unless the price is right. The same can be said for Raphinha, who has also received a large amount of attention over the last month or so.
The Brazilian is being courted by Barcelona at present, and, for what it’s worth, Betfair have him priced at 15/8 to sign for the Spanish outfit before September 3. However, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked in recent days and it seems they eyeing up a move, too.
Like the situation with Phillips, though, Leeds are in no rush to lose their top goalscorer from last season.
