Bethesda Shares Update on 'The Elder Scrolls 6' Development, Release After Eight Years

Bethesda has finally given the world a much-needed and long-awaited update on "The Elder Scrolls 6," the game that will finally succeed the game development studio's famed game from over a decade ago.

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" remains one of the most popular and beloved action role-playing games (RPGs) at present, with many players still playing the game and sharing iconic and meme-able mods, but it is due for a sequel.

Bethesda Shares Update on 'The Elder Scrolls 6'

Bethesda's Todd Howard shared new updates on "The Elder Scrolls 6" during a recent roundtable interview, and here, the game director discussed the potential timeline of the game.

However, it is not good news for fans and players as, according to GamesRadar+, Howard stated that there is "no rush" from Bethesda Studios when it comes to "The Elder Scrolls 6."

The game director attributed this to strong interests in the studio's previous projects.

This includes the likes of "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle," "DOOM: The Dark Ages," "Fallout," and, of course, "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," which also released an anniversary edition.

What, When to Expect 'The Elder Scrolls 6'

The game director said that he does not "want to count The Elder Scrolls 6," then further remarked that "Starfield was long. But other than that, they're usually pretty short."

According to ComicBook Gaming, the long development of an AAA-rated IP like "Starfield" and seeing its lackluster performance in the market could motivate Howard and Bethesda to release "The Elder Scrolls 6" sooner rather than later.

Howard's sentiment on not rushing "The Elder Scrolls 6" development could also be good news for gamers as it can be expected that the game debuts with better story, gameplay, and performance overall. There were no release windows unveiled by Howard in the interview.

The last game in the franchise, "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," is close to reaching 15 years since it was released by Bethesda.
