New research has discovered some of the major streaming service’s value for Christmas films, with Netflix being the most worthy of your money.
Netflix has the lowest cost of all the major streaming services, with the basic subscription costing £6.99 per month, compared to £8.99 for Amazon Prime and £7.99 for Disney+. It also has a lot of the higher rated Christmas films available, although none of the top five films are available on Netflix, according to IMDB.
Fan favourites Love, Actually and It's a Wonderful Life (ranked second and third) are both on Amazon Prime, and Home Alone (the winner of Best Christmas Film), Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and The Nightmare before Christmas are all on Disney+. Netflix does have family favourites like The Christmas Chronicles and comedies like The Office Christmas Party, with its highest ranked film at number 10 (Klaus, Spanish-American animated Christmas film).

A spokesperson from New Casinos commented on the findings: “As we enter the Christmas period, nothing gets us feeling more festive than cosying up and watching a Christmas film – but with a range of streaming services, there can be uncertainty as to which one can fulfil our desires without splurging too much. It’s interesting to see just how much higher the Netflix value score is than Amazon’s, and it is certainly useful to see where our money is better spent.”
The findings were based on the index score of the films available on the platform (which is based on how many IMDB votes the film received for Best Christmas Film), if the film is available for no extra fee on the platform with a subscription. Netflix had the highest index score (1681.92), followed by Amazon Prime (1657.11), then Disney+ (1386.19).
