The five best Scottish restaurants to eat out at this month have been named as Veganuary continues.
Veganuary is an annual challenge that sees people attempt to follow a vegan lifestyle for the entire month of January. With 2023 officially here, many people across the country will be attempting to eat less meat as part of their New Year's resolutions.
Whether you are already a fully-fledged vegan, a 'flexitarian', or just seeing how far you can make it through Veganuary, there are plenty of Scottish dining destinations with delicious vegan dishes to help you on your way.
Muckle Media has shared a list of its top five restaurants across the country serving up tasty vegan food, from contemporary dining to classic cuisine. Three of the spots featured in the list are located in Edinburgh: Divino Enoteca, Gleneagles Townhouse, and Prestonfield House.
Divino Enoteca is located in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town and offers a unique twist on contemporary dining. The Italian restaurant will satisfy your pasta cravings with vegan trofiette con pesto, ensuring you don't need to give up on Veganuary to chow down on some tasty food.
If it's true luxury you're after, then make sure to head to Gleneagles Townhouse, which serves up a seasonally inspired and modern-yet-classic menu. For those going vegan this month, make sure to try the mouth-watering plant-based burger with tomato, caramelised onion, sweet pickle and fries.
The third and final Edinburgh destination named is Prestonfield House, a five-star hotel located just five minutes from the city centre. If the vegan main of glazed baby vegetables, roast cauliflower, quinoa, puffed wild rice, and spiced carrot dressing didn't already sound delicious enough, there is also a full vegan afternoon tea menu packed with sweet and savoury vegan treats.
Moving over to Glasgow, Eusebi Deli is another restaurant that has been named as a top Veganuary destination by Muckle Media. Its vegan sourdough pizza with pumpkin puree cream base, roasted onion, and pear or maccheroni arrabiata with EVOO, garlic, and chilli is a must-try.
The final restaurant to appear on the list is the The Pierhouse in Argyll, located in the pretty fishing village of Port Appin. Its vegan mains include confit field mushroom and scotch pulse pie with crispy new potatoes, and harissa roast carrot and chickpea strudel.
