The Cincinnati Bengals generated some major reactions for their pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft.
After all, there were major names like Darnell Washington still on the board at perceived positions of need by the time the 60th pick arrived.
The Bengals elected to get defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo another weapon though, taking Michigan cornerback DJ Turner.
Turner, yet another wicked-fast option for the secondary and possible long-term starter in time, earned the Bengals plenty of praise.
Here’s a look at some of the best reactions to the move before the team got ready to step to the podium in Round 3.
DJ Turner II is a CB prospect in the 2023 draft class. He scored a 9.59 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 92 out of 2212 CB from 1987 to 2023. https://t.co/ngJWnXgMR6 pic.twitter.com/z2IZC9F4N8

Some thought CB DJ Turner could be taken in the 1st round so good value for the #Bengals here. https://t.co/Ncrrk0Er5I

Love what the #Bengals are doing to stoke the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry in the locker room.
Another layer added.

Defense, defense, defense. 💪💪💪
…and offensive line. 😬

Bengals get the CB @BMeek23 wanted. DJ Turner can absolutely fly. I like him better in the slot for now. He gets bullied a little too often, but he closes in a hurry.

#Bengals are selecting Michigan cornerback DJ Turner in the second round.
Back-to-back Lou picks to open the draft. @fox19

Worried about shorter arms and slight size at 5-11, 178 pounds with Lou Anarumo's preferences, but running a 4.26 and being available at 60 must have wiped out those negatives.

The #Bengals officially select Michigan cornerback D.J. Turner. Not the pick I would've expected, but Turner is re-united with his former college teammate, Dax Hill.

Turner's has shorter arms than Lou typically covets, but all the speed. His 4.26 40 at the Combine was the fastest of any DB
— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonATH) April 29, 2023
Nobody was faster at the combine than #Bengals second round pick DJ Turner who ran a 4.26 40-yard dash.
He was a 2-year starter at Michigan and had 20 breakups and 3 INT in those seasons. You can’t have enough good corners and Cincinnati gets one in round two— Dan Hoard (@Dan_Hoard) April 29, 2023
Love the DJ Turner pick. Going to have a fast defense. Another high character selection

Turner is a great athlete.
Quick, fluid with great technique.
He can play inside or outside.
He is not afraid of contact at all.
50/50 balls is the biggest concern.
Lou will get him right.

Gotta love getting even faster in the defensive backfield, welcome to Cincinnati, DJ Turner! pic.twitter.com/EW2jTLeohY

Bengals have a really fast and aggressive defense, particularly the secondary.
Cam Taylor-Britt (4.38) and DJ Turner (4.26) can both absolutely fly. Chido with excellent speed, too (4.43).
Dax Hill with elite speed as well (4.38)
