The city centre has plenty of eating and drinking options for visiting fans, including The Printworks, The Corn Exchange, Peter Street, the Northern Quarter and Oxford Road, all with public transport links nearby to get you to Old Trafford in time for the match.

If you're looking for pubs a bit nearer to the stadium though, we've rounded up a few of our favourites.

Hotel Football

Neville and Giggsy's gaff sits in the shadows of Old Trafford and offers a slightly more refined pre-match experience.

Burgers include The Home Team (cheese, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and burger sauce, £12) and there's a pizza that goes by the name of the Mara Doner (shredded lamb, tomato sauce, mozzarella, garlic, red onion, tomato and rocket salad, mint aioli, £14).

The Giggsy comprises of sausage, mash and onion gravy (£14) while the Nicky Butty (£13) is your classic club sandwich with chicken, bacon and lettuce.

They've also got kids menus, afternoon tea and breakfast on offer alongside their own range of Cafe Football beer, cocktails and hot drinks.

The Dockyard

A spacious craft ale pub at MediaCity with a sister site on Spinningfields. Loads of big comfy chairs and booths and a good bar menu too, full of big sarnies, pies and other such hearty treats.

It's just near the BBC buildings so you might get to to spot some semi-famous TV types if you keep your eyes peeled. One of our favourite haunts on Salford Quays.

The Bishop Blaize

The first Bishop Blaize inn, named after the patron saint of woolcombers, was recorded here in the mid 15th century.

Demolished in 1863, its name lives on in this Wetherspoons pub. Stretford also takes its name from a river crossing, did you know?

After it was demolished, the Bishop Blaize inn was replaced by the Talbot Hotel.

Based just five minutes away Old Trafford and around the corner from the Cricket Club, The Quadrant is an ideal spot for a match day drink.

Cocktails, wines and an extensive selection of continental lagers and real ales are on offer here. Plenty of TVs, an outside terrace, all that. Lime is located opposite the Lowry Theatre on the waterfront, so is a decent shout on a nice day.

'Lime was delighted to hold a private dinner for Robbie Williams in June 2014' says the website. No idea.
